West Ham boss Pellegrini takes positives after FA Cup win

West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini was in positive mood after his sides 2-0 home win over Birmingham in the FA Cup yesterday.

Goals from strikers Marko Arnautovic and Andy Carroll were enough to see the Hammers overcome Garry Monk’s Championship side and progress to the fourth round.

Pellegrini was pleased by the fact his sides new signing former Arsenal and Man City midfielder Samir Nasri made his first appearance for West Ham after signing on a short term deal.

The Chilean coach was also happy that striker Carroll got on the scoresheet and moved to rubbish suggestions that the forward could leave the Hammers during the January transfer window.

“I never had any doubt that Andy Carroll wants to stay here, he doesn’t want to go anywhere.’’ Pellegrini told reporters after the game.

“There were a lot of positive things today. One of those is the minutes that Nasri played after a long time without playing games. Also we won and Andy Carroll scored.”
