Manuel Pellegrini has said he was very happy with the way his West Ham team played, despite slipping to a 3-1 defeat to Arsenal this afternoon.
Both teams went into the game having failed to pick up a single point between them, with West Ham slipping to defeats to Liverpool and Bournemouth in their opening two Premier League games of the season.
However, despite Marko Arnautovic giving the Hammers the lead, it would be Arsenal who finally picked up their first points of the season, with Nacho Monreal and Danny Welbeck scoring either side of debutant Issa Diop’s own goal.
Despite the defeat, which sent West Ham to the foot of the table, Manuel Pellegrini has insisted he was happy with his side’s performance:
“We created a lot of chances and I was very happy in the way we played, we dominated parts of the game and were unlucky with the own goal,” Pellegrini told the BBC.
“We improved on what we did in our two first games. We need to add points, but we are going to continue searching.
“Unfortunately, we had two injuries with (Marko) Arnautovic and (Michail) Antonio playing very well. The style, we need to continue doing with more trust than ever after losing this game.
“In every game, we are improving.”
