West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini was left frustrated after his side slipped to a 2-0 away loss to struggling Burnley today.
The Hammers went into todayโs fixtures with ambitions of sealing a win and moving up to seventh in the Premier League table, but goals from Chris Wood and Dwight McNeil instead handed the Clarets a much needed victory.
Speaking after the game West Ham boss Pellegrini admitted he felt his side lacked energy due to their hectic festive fixture list.
“It was frustrating because we wanted to win this game and had the chance to be seventh. We lacked energy to win it. We had a flight and that arrived at 2am in the morning after playing Southampton.
“In defending, possession and attacking the team lacked energy. We improved a little bit more once we made changes.
“I was happy until 2 o’clock today. This was a game we were able to win – Burnley was in a bad moment but they played with intensity. Burnley recovered better because they had 30 or 35 hours more.”
