Manuel Pellegrini has said he is not surprised by the form being displayed by West Ham United youngster, Declan Rice, this season.
Rice is currently at the centre of a tug-of-war between Ireland and England over his international future following the excellent performance he has put in in a defensive midfield role for the Hammers.
The 19-year-old put in another fine display for the Hammers in Thursday night’s 2-1 win over Southampton at St Mary’s.
Speaking ahead of West Ham’s clash away at Burnley on Sunday, Irons boss Pellegrini has said that he was not surprised with the youngster’s performance levels, adding that he has a ‘bright future’.
“I see Declan work every day and so it is difficult for me to be surprised by him now,” Pellegrini said in his pre-match press conference.
“He always wants to learn more, he hasn’t had any problems, he has just been focusing on playing.
“He is always, always working hard and he is just 19 years old.
“He’s a player who always wants to learn more, and he has got such a bright future ahead of him.”
