Spanish winger Pedro has said there is no problem with the mentality of the Chelsea squad following their recent heavy defeats.
The Blues have suffered back-to-back away losses to Bournemouth and Manchester City by an aggregate score of 10-0, leaving the side in danger of missing out on qualification for the Champions League.
While such heavy defeats can often have a detrimental effect on a team, Pedro says Chelsea are strong mentally while emphasising the fact it’s hard to play against a strong side like Man City.
“It depends upon the opponents. City played very well, so it was so difficult to press. To create between the lines, and to defend.” Pedro told the press ahead of tonight’s Europa League clash with Malmo.
“The mentality in the team is good.
“It’s true, also, that in the last games against this kind of team, if you’re not ready and focused from the first minute, it’s so difficult. Also, when they score a lot of goals, it’s so difficult to continue in the game.
“The mentality of the team, though, is so good.
“The most important thing is to recover our best feeling. This is an opportunity for us, a new competition. This changes the mentality so quickly, the mentality, if we win tomorrow.”
The recent run of results have seen Chelsea linked with doing what they do best, replacing their manager.
