Arsenal assist king Mesut Ozil recently signed a mega money contract extension with Gunners until 2021, with his previous contract due to expire this summer.
Many observers were surprised that the talented attacker decided to stay at the Emirates having let his contract run down, and due to the fact he was heavily lined with a move to Manchester United.
Ozil enjoyed the most successful period of his career on both a individual and team level whilst working with current Old Trafford manager Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid.
The German international also spoke glowingly of his relationship with his former boss in his autobiography, so many Arsenal fans were worried he would follow the lead of Alexis Sanchez and head to Manchester United next summer.
However, Ozil has now revealed just how much he loves life at the Emirates and why exactly he decided to extend his stay with the Gunners.
“I’m really happy to sign here for such a big club like Arsenal. I’ve always said to the club that I’m happy here and now I’ve signed, I’m really happy.
“My team-mates and family have always supported me. I have a lot of goals here with the team, I want to reach those and I’m really happy.”
“I like the club and I am happy. I love the city.”
“Before I signed the contract, I spoke with my family about what the best decision was for me. At the end of the day, it was really easy for me to say ‘yes’ to the club.
“I’m here for more years and I hope we will win some titles with the team. I believe in that.” He said.
