The agent of Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil, Dr Erkut Sogut, has revealed that his client intends to see out the remaining two years of his Gunners contract and even claimed the attacker ‘bleeds Arsenal red’.
Former Germany international Ozil has been a divisive figure since joining Arsenal from Real Madrid due to his questionable work rate, and many cynics will highlight his £350,000-a-week contract as his main motivation to stay at the Emirates.
Emery has often dropped Ozil for away games and fixtures against other members of the top six, with the talented midfielder only starting 19 Premier League games this season.
Due to his lack of game time at the Emirates this season, speculation has been rife suggesting Arsenal will try and offload Ozil this summer.
However, Sogut has insisted his client will remain in North London, although cynics will surely point to his mega-money contract as being Ozil’s main motivation for not wanting to move away from Arsenal.
“Mesut bleeds Arsenal red, and respecting his contract is a certainty,” Sogut told Turkish-Football.
“He’ll be staying at Arsenal until at least 2021, and the fans need not to worry about the gossip that may come this summer. He has found a place he feels welcome and believes he has a lot more to give.”
