Osimhen ‘primary target’ for PSG as Mbappe replacement

Paris Saint-Germain have made Victor Osimhen their ‘primary target’ to replace Kylian Mbappe if the forward leaves the club this summer.

Mbappe’s future is uncertain after the club’s record goalscorer informed PSG that he would not extend his current contract, which is set to expire next summer.

PSG have responded with an ultimatum, insisting the club will actively look to sell Mbappe in the current window if he refuses to sign a new deal.

Real Madrid are long-term admirers of Mbappe and have made attempts to sign the forward in each of the past two summers, but the Spanish side’s ability to afford a deal is unclear after the arrival of Jude Bellingham at the Bernabeu.

PSG remain determined to sell Mbappe immediately if he does not sign a new deal and will target Napoli’s Osimhen in the event that the former does not extend his contract.

The sale of Mbappe – valued at around £150m despite his contract situation – would provide funds to chase a deal for Osimhen, who ended last season as Serie A’s leading scorer as Napoli won a first Scudetto since 1990.

La Gazzetta dello Sport, as per Football Italia, have confirmed that Osimhen will be PSG’s ‘primary target’ if Mbappe leaves and the Ligue 1 champions have reportedly seen an opening bid of €100m (£85.5m) turned down.

Napoli have set an asking price of €180m (£153.8m) for Osimhen, who has scored 50 goals in 89 league appearances for the club.
