Olivier Giroud has recently said that he and Eden Hazard have spoken with Nabil Fekir about the possibility of him joining Chelsea this summer, and would “welcome him” at the club.
Fekir, who currently plays for Lyon in Ligue 1, was heavily linked with Liverpool last month and was set to join before the deal stalled. He had even chosen his shirt number for next season.
Giroud told Foot Mercato that “I spoke to him when we were together in the French national team, when his move to Liverpool fell through. Then we discussed Chelsea and I even think that Eden said a couple of words to him.
“We would obviously welcome him, he is a super player, but I don’t know if this is something that could happen as the window closes on Thursday.”
Whilst there has been some speculation surrounding Chelsea and Nabil Fekir, there is no concrete information that reveals whether the Frenchman has actually begun negotiations with the club.
With just a day remaining until the transfer window closes, the Fekir deal is beginning to look more unlikely with every hour that passes.
