Nottingham Forest are on the verge of signing former Liverpool striker Divock Origi from AC Milan.
The 28-year-old is set to join the Reds on a season-long loan, with the club given an option to buy the player in the deal.
Remarkably, Milan had agreed deal with both Forest and Burnley for Origi, according to Sky Sports News. The Italian club left it up to the centre-forward as to which one he would join and he is ‘leaning towards’ a move to the City Ground over Turf Moor.
It’s also reported that Origi won’t fly to the UK this weekend, but has already completed a medical in Italy. The Belgian played a key role in Liverpool‘s Champions League success in 2019, scoring in both the semi-final and final.
The story broke shortly after Forest confirmed the signing of Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea for £3 million with £2m in performance-related add-ons. The winger has signed a three-year contract with the East Midlands outfit.
“It’s massive for me to be here and I can’t wait to get started. It’s a new chapter for me,” Hudson-Odoi said.
“I know a couple of the boys already which was a big thing for me, and I obviously know the manager well, so it’s nice to be here and see familiar faces around.
“Forest is a big club which won two massive trophies in its history and I’m really excited to play at The City Ground. I know all about the atmosphere having watched a couple of times and I can’t wait to get playing in front of the Forest fans.”
It has been a busy transfer deadline day for Forest, who have also signed Nuno Tavares on loan from Arsenal and Nicolás Domínguez on a five-year contract from Bologna.
Three players have also departed the club on Friday, with Jonathan Panzo joining Cardiff City on loan and Loic Mbe Soh heading to Almere City on loan. Remo Freuler joined Bologna as part of the Dominguez deal.
