PSG ace Neymar has officially been ruled out of both legs of the French sides Champions League tie against Manchester United.
The world’s most expensive player fractured the fifth metatarsal on his right foot last week in PSG’s Coupe de France tie against Strasbourg.
There was hope that the Brazilian would be able to recover in time for their Champions League clash against Manchester United, although the French champions have now confirmed that he will miss around 10 weeks of action, keeping him out of action until mid-April.
“After detailed analysis by the specialists, a consensus was reached of a conservative treatment of Neymar Jr.’s injury to the fifth right metatarsal,” a statement on the PSG website reads.
“Informed of this recommendation, Paris Saint-Germain’s Brazilian international striker agreed with this protocol. As a result, Neymar Jr. is expected to return to the field within ten weeks.
“Paris Saint-Germain sends its strongest support and encouragement to Neymar Jr. to overcome this injury, with the courage and determination that the player has always shown.”
The reigning Ligue 1 champions travel to Old Trafford on February 12 for the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie, before the return leg takes place at the Parc des Princes on March 6th.
