Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak is a major doubt to face Liverpool in the Premier League on Wednesday.ย
The Sweden international was taken off in the first half Newcastle’s 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace on Saturday, and is yet to return to training.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Magpies boss Eddie Howe revealed that Isak sustained a hip problem during the game and they are managing his pain, but does not believe it will be a long-term injury.
“Well, he took a knock to his hip,” said Newcastle boss Eddie Howe. “He wasn’t able to carry on.

“We haven’t seen him in training yet. I don’t think it’s a long term injury. We’ll wait and see with that.
“It’ll be time. It will be pain management. And how quickly the injury settles down.”
Isak has scored four goals and provided two assists in 11 Premier League appearances this season.
Newcastle are also missing defenders Emil Krafth, Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles, who are all ruled out with injury.
