Newcastle to make a move for wantaway Arsenal striker

Premier League newcomer Newcastle United are to launch a bid for Arsenal striker Lucas Perez.

The striker only joined the Gunners last summer, completing a £17m move from Deportivo La Coruna, but has become frustrated with his career at the Emirates after only making 21 appearances for the club last season, with only 11 coming in the Premier League.

Not only has he been a big part player, but now the 28-year-old has seem his number 9 shirt given to new record signing Alexandre Lacazette from under his nose.

He is desperate to return to La Liga and has been linked with a return to Deportivo la Coruna. However, according to the The Sun, Newcastle have emerged as a potential option too.

La Coruna have been linked with making a loan offer with a view to buy for a cut price deal, whereas Rafa Benitez is willing to buy the striker outright, as well as offering a fee that couldn’t be matched by their Spanish counterparts.

The article claims that Benitez is also willing to give Perez the club’s famous number 9 shirt, as they grow more and more desperate in their search for a new striker.

They have so far hit a brick wall in their attempts to sign Cedric Bakambu (Villarreal) and Tammy Abraham (Chelsea) who instead opted to move to Swansea on loan, so a move for Perez could be a good one for the Geordies.

Newcastle have made four signings so far this summer, bringing in Christian Atsu, Florian Lejeune, Jacob Murphy and Javi Manquillo on permanent deals.

Who will Newcastle sign this summer? Where do they need to strengthen? Have Arsenal given Perez enough opportunities? Leave us your thoughts.
