Eddie Howe has confirmed that Newcastle will be without Callum Wilson for this weekend’s clash at Chelsea.
Newcastle travel to face Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday, as the Magpies look to address a run of four games without a win. Howe’s side have failed to score in successive games against Everton and Brighton but will have to do without Wilson once again at Stamford Bridge.
The forward is yet to feature this season and has suffered a setback in his recovery from injury. Howe has confirmed that the 32-year-old will not feature in Newcastle’s next three games as the club look to take a cautious approach with the injury-plagued player.
“We’re going to lose Callum for the next three games definitely,” Howe said at his pre-match press conference.
“He’s suffered some tightness in his body and he hasn’t felt like he could kick on to the last part he needed. He had trained with us and had looked really good but with Callum, he’s hyper-sensitive and we’re hyper-sensitive to the work.
“It’s no injury as such, he’s just not ready to come back again.”
