Former Newcastle United flop Florian Thauvin is being linked with a shock return to England with Chelsea.
The Marseille midfielder, who enjoyed an unhappy spell on Tyneside, has starred since returning to Ligue 1 with a series of Europe’s top clubs now monitoring the Frenchman.
The 25-year-old has developed into one of the division’s finest players, scoring 22 league goals last season as Marseille narrowly missed out on qualification for the Champions League.
The attacking midfielder has continued this season in a similar vein, scoring ten league goals so far to alert Maurizio Sarri and Chelsea.
France Football are reporting that Sarri is ready to make a move for Thauvin, who he sees as an ideal replacement for the ageing Pedro and Willian in the wide areas at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are likely to face stiff competition for his services, with the likes of Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan all reportedly keen.
