Newcastle boss Benitez ‘confident’ ahead of Watford clash

Rafa Benitez says he is confident his Newcastle team can take all three points when they meet with Watford this Saturday.

Newcastle are currently in a state of turmoil with Benitez clearly not receiving any support from club owner, Mike Ashley.

The former Liverpool boss has had to work with much the same squad from last season after not being backed in the transfer market during the summer.

However, the Spanish manager is not giving up hope that his Newcastle team can battle their way out of the relegation zone and hold onto their Premier League status, come May.

”I have confidence we will get three points, what can we do if not? Give up? No chance. We have to keep going every week.’’ Benitez told his pre-match press conference.

Last time out, Newcastle picked up a point after a 0-0 draw with Mark Hughes’ Southampton at St Mary’s. Benitez felt the point was a step in the right direction, even if the performance was not of the standard he was looking for.

”I was not happy with the performance but I was happy with the point. We are very close to getting the win.’’

Newcastle now have two home games in a row with Bournemouth the visitors on Saturday week.
