He has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United, but Antoine Griezmanns transfer has taken a new twist today.
It may only be the June 1st, but Antoine Griezmann’s potential transfer to Manchester United is already starting to look like a potentially long running saga that is set to rumble on and on.
Sky Sports are reporting that Manchester United have sensationally cooled their interest in signing the Frenchman.
They claim that following Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s injury, Jose Mourinho has re-prioritised signing an out and out striker, rather than signing Griezmann who is more of a number 10 operating behind the striker.
This has led to United holding off on making an official move for the striker, for who they would have to pay his €100m release clause. Atletico will be unwilling to negotiate any price below the release clause, especially following the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s decision to uphold a transfer ban, which prevents the Rojiblancos from registering any new players this summer.
Griezmann had previously stated that he thought there was a six out of ten chance he would move to Old Trafford, and teased United fans with the following video yesterday.
United have been linked with a move for Romelu Lukaku, Andrea Belotti and Alvaro Morata, although the latter has been strongly linked with a move to AC Milan this summer.
