Antonio Conte is keen on a move to take Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan.
The former Chelsea manager looks set to take over at the San Siro this summer and will target a move for Manchester United forward Lukaku as he looks to strengthen his squad.
Conte is expected to be announced as Inter’s new head coach following the club’s final game of the season against Empoli on Sunday, with plans already underway for summer recruitment.
According to The Times, those plans include a move for Belgian international Lukaku who has fallen out-of-favour at Old Trafford this season.
Despite scoring 42 goals in 96 appearances for the club since joining from Everton in 2017, Lukaku has fallen behind Marcus Rashford in the pecking order for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side and could be set for a summer exit.
The 26-year-old has made no secret of his desire to one day play in Italy, with Conte ready to launch a move to bring Lukaku to Serie A.
Inter are looking to build a side capable of ending Juventus’ dominance of Italy’s top division, having seen the Turin side win eight consecutive league titles.
Lukaku could replace current number nine Mauro Icardi, the Argentine has endured a fractious relationship with both teammates and the club’s supporters and has been linked with a move away.
