New Everton signing Lucas Digne has hit back at Liverpool fans who have been giving him stick for having a tattoo with the words ‘I never walk alone’ across his chest.

The former PSG and Barcelona left-back has now explained what his body art means and also revealed that he turned down a move to Anfield on two occassions.

“My tattoo has a story but it’s not about football.’’ He told the Liverpool Echo.

“When I was three or four years old, I went for my first day at school and my parents gave me a necklace with these words. Maybe Liverpool fans are so angry against me because I said two times no to Liverpool. I’m blue.”

25-year-old defender Digne signed for Everton from La Liga Champions Barcelona this week for £18 million.

The 21 cap France international is in line to make his full Toffees debut when Marco Silva’s side begin their 2017/2018 Premier League campaign against Wolves on Saturday 11 August.
