Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has hailed the job Mauricio Pochettino has done at Tottenham Hotspur and suggested that if he had the same type of financial backing as other top six clubs he would win the Premier League.
The former England coach is one of Sky Sports most respected pundits and last night on Monday Night Football he also revealed that he would like Pochettino to take over the reigns at United once Jose Mourinho’s time at Old Trafford comes to an end.
Neville has never hide the fact that he is a massive fan of the Argentine coach and revealed his admiration for the job the Spurs coach has done in qualifying for the Champions League for three consecutive seasons, considering that he has had to work with a relatively small budget in comparison to other top Premier League clubs.
“You look at Tottenham, £252m spent, £202m recouped, Southampton are spending around that level of money, Leicester are spending about that level of money, Everton are spending more,” said Neville.
“That’s why Mauricio Pochettino has done an outstanding job.”
“You give the most money to a manager, they’ll win the league more often than not. They’re up against it before they even start, they’re outperforming and overachieving season after season.”
