Phil Neville thinks that the criticism that Jose Mourinho has received is nothing short of disgraceful and disgusting.
The former Manchester United full-back has leapt to the defence of the under-fire manager, who has spent the majority of the summer complaining about a lack of signings and players at his disposal.
His detractors were silenced slightly after United beat Leicester in the opening game of the Premier League campaign, but it quickly returned after they slipped to a shock defeat to Brighton a week later, a game in which Paul Pogba admitted his attitude was wrong.
Despite the players taking some kind of responsibility for their performance, it has been Mourinho who has taken the brunt of the criticism, much to the dismay of England Ladies head coach, Phil Neville:
“I think it’s disgusting,” Neville said on BBC Radio 5Live.
“I read something the other day that his methods are outdated and I think that’s the most disrespectful thing ever. When he comes back in a Manchester derby last year and wins 3-2, were his methods outdated?
“His record speaks for itself, they are going through a bad period – that performance last week at Brighton was unacceptable but I don’t see a better man for the job and the criticism he’s getting is disgraceful.”
