Neville: North London Derby a ‘big test’ for Arsenal boss Emery

Gary Neville feels that Unai Emery is going to learn a lot about his Arsenal side during Sunday’s North London derby against Spurs at the Emirates Stadium.

The former Manchester United right-back feels that it will be a huge week in the early Arsenal career of Emery with the Gunners also in action against Manchester United on Wednesday night.

“It’s a big test for Unai Emery. He obviously had those games against Manchester City and Chelsea early in the season,” Neville wrote in his Sky Sports column.

“They’ve got Manchester United on Wednesday, so those games in three days will tell you a lot more about where Arsenal are at.

“There is a real progression – I love Emery as a coach – and he will be looking at these games with a real positive mindset and thinking it’s where his team is at now.”

Neville feels that now is the time for Arsenal to show how far they have come since those first two defeats of the season when the lost to Manchester City and Chelsea consecutively.

“Two games against two opponents in the top eight who are basically not Manchester City and Liverpool, the top teams in the league, but basically will test their resolve, tell Emery where they are at and it’s good for Arsenal to test themselves and show how far they have developed since those early season games.”
