David Moyes is targeting a hat-trick of West Ham wins against Arsenal this season as the two teams meet at the London Stadium this weekend.
West Ham host their London neighbours in the Premier League on Sunday, looking to extend a strong recent record in this fixture. The Irons eliminated Arsenal from the Carabao Cup earlier this season and secured a shock 2-0 win over the title-chasing Gunners at the Emirates on December 28.
Moyes insists those wins prove his team are capable of earning another positive result this weekend.
“If you’d given me one of the wins against a team I’d have been happy. Two is fabulous and if we can make it three it would be fantastic,” he said at his pre-match press conference.
“They are a great side and we will have to play really well. It doesn’t make me feel more confident, but it makes me feel that we’ve shown we can take points off Arsenal.
“We’ve scored goals against them and that would be the key again to give ourselves a chance.
“Our home form has been pretty good in the main this season and hopefully we can keep it up.”
Arsenal will arrive at the London Stadium with confidence after a crucial win over title rivals Liverpool last weekend. Mikel Arteta’s team have won three consecutive games in the Premier League and are two points behind leaders Liverpool.
“The manager has done a brilliant job with the team. They’ve got some really top quality players, Moyes added.
“They are a top team, they really are. We did a great job getting a win at the Emirates and overall we’ve had some good results against them. We’ll have to work hard and play well again when we play them on Sunday.”
