Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho wants to sign Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil to solve his sides attacking problems, report The Telegraph.
The Portuguese coach, is said to believe that his teams failure to keep pace with Pep Guardiola’s Man City is due to the lack of impact from his number 10’s, and he feels that Ozil is the perfect man to remedy the issue.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan, has struggled to replicate the level of form he showed with Borussia Dortmund at Old Trafford, and Mourinho is said to have become exacerbated with his lacklustre displays. Juan Mata has also been used as the link man between midfield and attack without much notable success.
Germany international Ozil and Mourinho have previously worked together during their time at Real Madrid, and United’s manager rates the talented attacker so highly that he stated the following about him :
“Ozil is unique, there is no copy of him – not even a bad one. He is the best No 10 in the world. He made things very easy for me and for his team-mates with his football vision and decisions he made.”
United are said to be hopeful of picking up the 29-year-old up for free when his Arsenal contract expires in the summer, although if other clubs begin bidding in January, the Old Trafford side will make their own bid, such is Mourinho’s desire to be reunited with the player.
