Mourinho tips Sarri for success

Jose Mourinho has tipped Maurizio Sarri for success at Chelsea after taking over from Antonio Conte this summer.

To put it mildly, Mourinho’s relationship Sarri’s predecessor Conte was a fractious one, with the pair regularly using the media to trade blows and take swipes at each other.

After finishing the Premier League season in fifth, and having whinged all season about a lack of signings, Chelsea finally put Conte out of his misery last month, replacing him with his fellow compatriot Sarri.

Sarri has won many admirers in recent seasons for the progressive, possession based, attacking football that his Napoli side became synonymous with over the last few years, and when asked about the latest incumbent to the Chelsea hotseat, Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho feels that he has all the tools to achieve success:

“I don’t know him,” he told beIN SPORTS.

“When I was in Italy from 2008-10, he was not in Serie A. I never met him or played against him. I just follow football and lately the good work he did with Napoli.

“In England, all the good managers have the desire to come. It’s a crazy competition with a high level so I think every manager has the dream to come so he had the chance to come.

“He has a fantastic team, fantastic players and squad – I think he has conditions to do good work.”
