Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has admitted that he would like to add two more players to his squad before the end of the summer transfer window.

As always, Manchester United have been linked with a huge amount of players so far this summer. However, the only really high profile signing the Old Trafford outfit have made so far has been the £52 million capture of Brazilian international midfielder Fred, with relatively unknown young Portuguese defender Diogo Dalot arriving from Porto and Lee Grant also joining from Stoke to become the clubs new third choice goalkeeper.

Mourinho’s main priority seems to be signing a new centre-back with Leicester City’s Harry Maguire and Spurs Toby Alderweireld thought to be his main targets. United have also been heavily linked with moves for several high profile midfielders and attackers, although like all other clubs, they face a race against time to get their business done before the transfer window shuts on the August 9.

Mourinho has been in a sombre mood so far during his sides pre-season tour of America due to a lack of players at his disposal, and while he freely admitted he wants to sign two more players, he does not sound overly optimistic that his wish will be granted.

“One thing is what I would like, another thing is what is going to happen,” he told ESPN.

“[If I had any wish] I would get two more players.”

However, Mourinho did also reveal that he supports the decision to shut the window before the start of the Premier League season, which kicks off on the 10 of August.

“On the one side it’s a fair perspective, I think it’s correct that the market closes before the season starts,” He added.
