Jose Mourinho is planning on a massive summer cull at Manchester United as he looks to trim the squad down.
The Portuguese has already completed three summer signings with the arrivals of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly, and is closing in on the £100million signing of Paul Pogba.
However a Manchester United source told the Sun on Sunday that Mourinho only wants to work with a small group of first team players.
Jose has made it clear he wants to work with 22 key players.
It means up to eight players heading out.
Manchester United currently have 40 players with squad numbers, plus their three new signings who are yet to have their numbers revealed. That leaves several players facing the chop, with the likes of Marcos Rojo, Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Memphis Depay all suffering poor form last season.
Juan Mata is almost certain to move on from Manchester United, with Everton and Juventus interested.
