Mourinho: We need points, results and performances

Jose Mourinho has said there is no room for error from his Manchester United side, who now need ‘points and results and performances’.

It has been a woeful start to the campaign for Manchester United, who after just 12 Premier League games, are already 12 points behind Manchester City, seven points off the top four, and sit in eighth place in the table.

United had recently started to play an improved brand of football, going unbeaten in five Premier League games, as well as earning a surprise victory against Juventus in the Champions League. However, they were brought back down to earth with a bang as they were humbled 3-1 in the Manchester derby two weeks ago.

With Crystal Palace the visitors to Old Trafford this weekend, Jose Mourinho has described United’s supporters as ‘fantastic’ for sticking with the team, but has warned his players that they need to start delivering.

“Supporters cannot do more than they are doing. Went through difficult period. They were fantastic and pushed the team,” Mourinho told his pre-match press conference.

“[I] cannot ask more from them. It is for us. The team. Of course we need points and results and performances. We’re playing well and getting good results until the last match.

“Two weeks waiting for good news and bad news. We were in a good moment. We need to get points to jump in the position we are in the championship.”
