Jose Mourinho has stated that the biggest deal of the January transfer window so far, that saw Alexis Sanchez and Henrikh Mkhitaryan swap between Arsenal and Manchester United as a ”fantastic,” deal for everybody concerned.
Speaking today ahead of his sides FA Cup fourth round tie away to Yeovil tomorrow night the Portuguese coach said:
“I think was a fantastic deal and a fantastic deal is only fantastic if it is good for everybody,”
“United and Arsenal made a fantastic deal, I lost a fantastic player, Mr Wenger lost a fantastic player, Alexis changed from a fantastic club to a giant club and Mkhi changed for a fantastic club, so was a great deal for everybody.”
Of course only time will tell who exactly got the better deal out of this player swap, although the general feeling is that Sanchez may well be more suited to the type of winning mentality Mourinho instils in his teams, whereas Mkhitaryan may be able to flourish more under the tutelage of Wenger, who promotes a brand of intricate attacking football.
United’s manager also revealed that Sanchez is in the squad for the game at Huish Park, so Red Devils fans will be hopeful that they will be able to catch their first glimpse of the Chile international in their famous red jersey tomorrow night.
Arsenal don’t play this weekend as they were knocked out of the FA Cup in the last round by Championship side Nottingham Forest, so Gunners fans will have to wait until their Premier League fixture away to Swansea next Tuesday before they get to see Mkhitaryan make his debut.
