Mourinho confirms player wants to leave Manchester United

Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Matteo Darmian wants to leave Manchester United, but the club are yet to receive a satisfactory offer.

Darmian moved to Manchester United as after impressing for Italy at the 2014 World Cup, and would make 39 appearances for the club during his debut campaign under Louis van Gaal.

Jose Mourinho’s arrival in 2016 saw a downturn in Darmian’s fortunes though, seeing his involvement drop to 29 and 17 appearances in the following two seasons.

The Italy international, who is comfortable at either right or left-back, has been linked with a return to his homeland this summer, with Juventus, Inter Milan, Roma and Napoli thought to be interested in his services.

Now, Jose Mourinho has confirmed that the 28-year-old wants to leave:

“Matteo wants to leave and I think when a player wants to leave, if the right offer arrives you have to try to be human and let the player follow his instinct but not at any price,”ย the Portuguese said after watching his side beat AC Milan on penalties on Wednesday night.

“And, until now, the offers we got for Matteo are not even close to being accepted.”
