Mourinho: I believe Manchester United will make top four

Jose Mourinho has reiterated his stance that Manchester United will be back in the top four by the turn of the year.

It has been a woeful start to the campaign for Manchester United, who after just 12 Premier League games, are already 12 points behind Manchester City in eighth place in the table.

The Red Devils were starting to show shoots of recovery, putting together a five-game unbeaten streak in the Premier League as well snatching a crucial victory against Juventus in the Champions League.

However, they were put to the sword by their Manchester rivals in the derby a fortnight ago, leaving them seven points adrift of the top four. But despite admitting that it is a ‘big gap’, Jose Mourinho has said that he thinks his side can be back in the race for the top four by the end of December.

“It is a big gap,” Mourinho told the press ahead of his sides clash against Crystal Palace tomorrow at Old Trafford.

“But until the end of December, there are eight games to play in the Premier League. We are speaking about 24 points for us all to fight for. I believe we are going to be there.”

During that time, United face all five of the sides that are currently propping up the table, as well as a home game against Arsenal and an away trip to face Liverpool.
