Birmingham City boss Garry Monk has told the press that his players are ‘committed and determined’ ahead of the second city derby.

The Blues head into the game just one place behind city rivals Aston Villa in the league table, but are firmly underdogs in the game.

Dean Smith’s side have begun to pick up some momentum in the last few games, beating high flying Derby County 3-0 last time out.

But, Monk insists his players will show their dedication to fight tooth and nail for a positive result.

“What you will 100 per cent see is a committed team, as you have seen every single game this season,”

“You’ll see a determined team to try and make our fans proud and wear that shirt how it should be worn.

“I’ve said that from the start. I promised the fans that and I don’t think the players or anyone else has let them down.”

But, the former Swansea City manager knows he has his work cut out on Sunday to try and steal all three points at Villa Park on Sunday.

The two sides face off on Sunday at 12pm in what is set to be a hotly contested derby.
