Mkhitaryan slams Arsenal fans for deserting the Emirates

Arsenal’s January signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan has blasted the Gunners fans who have decided to stay away from recent games at The Emirates.

Arsene Wenger’s side are on course for their worst Premier League finish in over 20 years, and were embarrassingly beaten 3-0 by Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final last month.

Arsenal fans have been protesting at games for several seasons now about the dropping standards of their club’s performances on the pitch, and the manner in which the club in being run.

Therefore, after their latest implosion this season thousands of home fans have decided to vote with their feet and stay away from home games, leaving the Emirates with huge areas of empty seats during recent games.

However, Armenia international Mkhitaryan blasted these fans for not showing up to home games when he said:

“We’re always playing for the fans, it doesn’t matter if they could have come today or not,”

“We’re always playing for those who come and support us; [those] who are really coming and supporting us are real fans.

“[To those] who are coming to the stadium just when we are winning we have nothing to say. Just thanks to the fans who were supporting.” He told BEIN Sports.

It is doubtful that the former Manchester United attacker’s comments will go down well with a huge portion of the Gunners faithful, who have simply become exascerbated with the consistent failure of their club over recent years.
