Henrikh Mkhitaryan has revealed he is enjoying life at Arsenal in what seems to be thinly veiled dig at his former manager at Manchester United Jose Mourinho’s playing style.
The Armenia international admitted he is revelling in the attacking brand of football Gunners manager Arsene Wenger promotes at the Emirates.
“In the last year I played in Dortmund with Klopp, Dortmund was playing very good football and I think it seems to be a bit similar comparing Arsenal to Dortmund,”
“I’m very happy to be here. I get pleasure playing offensive football and being part of Arsenal. Every offensive player wants to play offensive football. For me as well, I always love to play offensive football, it’s not easy to defend all the time.
“It’s necessary to do the best for the team, but in this case, when Arsenal are playing offensive football, I’m trying to give everything I can give to the team.” The 29-year-old said.
Mkhitaryan moved to Old Trafford from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund in 2015. During his time in Germany he developed a reputation as one of European footballs top attacking midfielders.
However, he failed to ever really settle at United, and was rumoured to have fallen out with Mourinho over differences in footballing philosophy.
In January, he moved to the Gunners as part of the swap deal that saw Chile international Alexis Sanchez move to Old Trafford.
Arsenal face Ostersunds FK in the Europa League tonight at the Emirates, a tournament in which Mkhitaryan probably produced his best displays for United, on their way to winning the competition last season.
