Arsenal legend Paul Merson thinks that his former side are going to be on the wrong end of an absolute hammering sooner or later.
The Gunners are at the top of the Premier League form table having won six league games on the spin and have won their last nine in all competitions.
However, despite their good form, and their comfortable 5-1 dispatching of newly promoted Fulham at the weekend, Unai Emery’s side have consistently surrendered a plethora of chances at the back.
It is this defensive fragility which leaves Arsenal legend Paul Merson to think that his former club are going to be on the end of an absolute battering at some point:
“Sooner or later they will be on the end of a big score – defensively they are all over the place,” he told Sky Sports’ The Debate.
“The one thing that gets them out of trouble is that they’re always going to score goals. But defensively, they are just not good enough.”
