Arsenal legend Paul Merson reckons it will be 20 years before his former club can win the Premier League title.
The Gunners last lifted the Premier League crown way back in the 2003/04 season and most fans and pundits are of the opinion that Unai Emery has made some progress since taking over from the long-serving manager Arsene Wenger in the summer.
However, former Arsenal attacker Merson believes the North London clubs current squad are ‘a million miles away’ from challenging for the title.
When asked how long before Arsenal would win the Premier League, Merson said:
“What do you think? 20 years,” he told Sky Sports.
“They’re a million miles away at the moment and the way it is going right now they probably need seven players to compete.
“I don’t see them winning again for a long, long time.”
Arsenal currently sit in fifth place in the table, three points behind fourth-place Chelsea, with the club looking to finish in the top four and qualify for the Champions League, having missed out on qualification for the last two seasons.
