Manchester City are closing in on a deal to sign Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea with the midfielder having agreed personal terms with the club.
Chelsea granted permission fro the Premier League champions to open talks with Kovacic over a potential move, with the west Londoners open to the sale of the Croatia international this summer.
Pep Guardiola is keen to reinforce his midfield options with the signing of the 29-year-old and Kovacic is keen on the move after five seasons at Chelsea.
Fabrizio Romano is reporting that personal terms are now agreed after advanced talks between City and Kovacic’s representatives last week, with the two clubs set to discuss the fee for the midfielder following Saturday’s Champions League final.
City will take on Inter Milan in the Champions League final this weekend and will then push to complete the club’s first signing of the summer transfer window.

City’s interest in Kovacic comes amid doubts over the future of Ilkay Gundogan, who is out of contract this summer and has been linked with Barcelona and Arsenal. Bernardo Silva has also been linked with an exit after pushing for a move in recent transfer windows.
Kovacic will be allowed to leave Chelsea as the club prepare for significant sales this summer. The former Real Madrid midfielder has just a year remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge.
