Anthony Martial is expected to sign a new long-term contract with Manchester United in the coming days, according to reports.
The 23-year-old France international joined Manchester United from AS Monaco in September of 2015 in a deal that could rise to £58 million, and immediately made himself a fan favourite by netting a sensational solo goal on his debut against bitter rivals Liverpool.
Martial continued this excellent form throughout his first season at Old Trafford, finishing as United’s top scorer and playing a pivotal part in the Red Devils lifting the FA Cup in May 2016.
However, his performance levels dropped during Jose Mourinho’s time at the club and he often found himself on the substitutes bench.
Due to a lack of game time and a strained relationship with Mourinho, Martial’s agent announced during the summer that his client did not intend to extend his stay at Old Trafford and would like a move away from the club.
It seems though that the 2015 European Golden Boy has had a change of heart though since Mourinho was replaced by former United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as caretaker manager at Old Trafford, with Sky Sports reporting that Martial is now set to commit his future to the Red Devils by signing a five-and-a-half-year deal.
