Anthony Martial has explained the reasons behind his up turn in form for Manchester United this season.
The winger burst onto the scene as a relative unknown back in 2015 after making a shock £58m move from Monaco. He was Manchester United’s top scorer in his debut season, scoring 17 goals in 49 appearances for the club.
However the arrival of Jose Mourinho brought upon a down turn in form, with the winger scoring just four times in the Premier League last season, with plenty of speculation that he could be allowed to leave during last summer’s transfer window
“I had some problems off the pitch [last season] that played in my head,
“I wasn’t really focused.
“But now when I go out onto the pitch, I want to tear it up.
“Some people forget my age. Given my talent, they expected me to explode earlier. But everyone has their own pace. With my club I want to win as many trophies as possible, and with the national team I hope to establish myself in the first team and win the World Cup.”
The Frenchman has come back with a bang this season and has already scored seven goals and provided three assists, with his form reportedly attracting attention from Real Madrid.
