Enzo Maresca has insisted that Chelsea have ‘one of the best squads in the Premier League’.
Chelsea sit fourth in the Premier League table after an encouraging start to Maresca’s reign in West London, following his summer appointment. The Blues earned a 1-1 draw at Manchester United on Sunday, with Moises Caicedo’s brilliant equaliser cancelling out a Bruno Fernandes penalty for the home side.
After missing out on Champions League qualification in each of the last two seasons, the Blues are aiming to return to Europe’s elite.
Maresca is confident that he has the players to achieve a top-four finish and believes Chelsea boast one of the best squads in the Premier League.
“I have one of the best squads in the Premier League, I have no doubt about this,” the Italian said after the draw at Manchester United.
“Since I arrived, the first thing I said to the club is that I was in love with the squad and this squad is very good”.
One player who is enjoying their football under Maresca is Moises Caicedo. After an underwhelming first season at Chelsea following his British transfer record move to the club, Caicedo has found his form at Stamford Bridge.
The Ecuadorian leads the Premier League for combined tackles and interceptions and scored with a fantastic volley at Old Trafford this weekend.
“Since we arrived, Moi Caicedo has been fantastic,” Maresca said.
“I said during the week, because the club pay big money, people expect them to be the best. It’s normal to be up and down, Moi is improving a lot. He is showing how good he is.”
