Marco Silva feels that his Everton team have to do better in the defensive third of the pitch if results are to improve for The Toffees.
Everton have not won for three games now and failed to keep a clean sheet for the same period.
They travel to the Premier League’s highest scorers, Manchester City, this weekend. Silva knows that a tight defence holds the key to any possible success in this fixture.
“We have to analyse what we are doing,” said Silva at his pre-match press conference.
“In some moments you are more happy with our performances. We don’t play alone. The opponents begin to understand how we are playing and we have to create other opportunities.
“In the last two games at home, we conceded goals that we hadn’t before. Clubs come here at Goodison playing more solid.
“The biggest difference against Newcastle and Watford is we should do better when conceding goals at certain moments.”
Silva will be confident of getting his defence back to the standard he expects as he has had a very settled first eleven for most of the season. Yerry Mina did replace Kurt Zouma for their 0-0 draw at Chelsea due to Zouma’s ineligibility for that game and the Colombian international has held onto the centre-back spot beside Michael Keane ever since.
