Marco Silva discusses the importance of Everton’s Idrissa Gueye

Marco Silva has talked up the importance of Idrissa Gana Gueye following PSG’s interest in the Everton midfielder last month.

The 29-year-old has started 21 of Everton‘s 27 Premier League games this season, with his performances in the heart of the Blues midfield attracting the attentions of the French champions during the recent January transfer window.

Everton refused to sell the former Aston Villa midfielder, and while the Senegal international recently admitted that he hopes a move to the French capital materialises in the summer, Blues boss Marco Silva has talked up why he is such an important piece of his jigsaw.

“He is really aggressive, he is fast in both transitions [attack and defence] and it is important for us,” Silva told evertontv.

“With him there, we can have the other players freer to support the attack.

“He has been really important for us since the beginning of the season. And he was last season also.

“He is playing well and he is doing a good job.”

Everton have had a difficult season under Marco Silva and currently sit down in ninth in the Premier League, 17 points off the top six but only nine points above the relegation zone.
