Manuel Ugarte is set to become a Manchester United player after a transfer fee worth up to €60 million (£50m) was agreed upon with Paris Saint-Germain.
The Uruguayan midfielder has been one of the Red Devils’ top targets in the summer window, and personal terms were reportedly agreed with the player in July.
However, talks with the French club dragged on and it even seemed like the deal may be dead in the water as they held firm on their asking price of €60m.
PSG, who signed Ugarte from Sporting Club for a similar transfer fee only last summer, have been keen to recoup their investment in the player.

The Parisian outfit have been successful in that aim, with the player’s move to Old Trafford ‘sealed’ having agreed on a €50m fixed fee plus €10m in add-ons, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The transfer reporter claims that Ugarte was only willing to leave PSG for Man United, while the club were not looking at signing any other midfielder but the 23-year-old. The player teased the impending move on social media on Tuesday morning.

In anticipation of Ugarte’s arrival, Man United have agreed deals to sell two of their academy graduates.
Scott McTominay is set to join Serie A side Napoli, who will pay a transfer fee of €29.6m (£25m) after the Scotland international reached an agreement in principle on personal terms.
McTominay, who was previously linked with Fulham and Everton, could undergo medical tests as early as Tuesday.
Hannibal Mejbri is also set to leave United after Burnley agreed to pay €10.6m (£9m) for the Tunisia international. That fee is inclusive of add-ons and a sell-on clause has been inserted into the deal.
The 21-year-old midfielder, who completed a medical on Monday, leaves United after making just 13 first-team appearances for the club in all competitions over the past three seasons.
