Manchester United ‘open’ to exit of Saudi-linked midfielder

Manchester United are open to allowing Casemiro to leave the club this summer amid interest in the midfielder from the Saudi Pro League.

Casemiro has received several approaches from Saudi Arabia with clubs in the Middle East pursuing a deal for the Brazil international.

His representatives have held talks with Saudi sides and Fabrizio Romano has claimed Manchester United are open to discussing his departure to free funds and room for the signing of a new midfielder.

The 32-year-old endured a decline in form during a difficult 2023-24 campaign at Old Trafford, having initially impressed following his £60m move from Real Madrid in 2022.

United want to sign a new defensive midfielder following Sofyan Amrabat’s return to Fiorentina and the Red Devils have been linked with Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte.

Casemiro’s exit would free up funds and room in the wage bill as Erik ten Hag’s team moves in a more youthful direction.

New minority owners Ineos are focused on signing talent on the rise and Ugarte, at 23, could be a long-term solution in midfield. United are also pushing to conclude deals for Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt and Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee.
