Manchester United are being tipped with making a transfer market raid on Chelsea again with a move for Willian being speculated. It is not the first time that Jose Mourinho’s new side have been linked with making a move the winger, with rumours of a potential move being made in at least two of Mourinho’s three transfer windows whilst in charge at Old Trafford.
Despite no moves occurring so far, speculation is increasing again that Mourinho could rekindle his interest in the Brazilian in January.
Willian won the player of the year award during Mourinho’s fated final season at Stamford Bridge, and seemed like the only player who was giving his all for the Portuguese boss before he was sacked for a second time amid reports of squad discontent.
However, with Eden Hazard, Alvaro Morata and Pedro being the first choice front three for the Blues, Willian has found himself on the bench more often than not under Antonio Conte.
Chelsea are now being linked with his fellow Brazilian winger Lucas Moura from PSG, a move which could force Willian further down the pecking order. Should Chelsea’s move for Moura be completed, the Express claim that Mourinho could secure a deal for his man in January.
Should that happen, he would follow in the footsteps of Nemanja Matic who also made the same move to Old Trafford from Stamford Bridge less than six months ago. United also have fellow ex Chelsea players Romelu Lukaku and Juan Mata amongst their ranks.
