Manchester United are set to consider permanent proposals for Mason Greenwood this summer with the club set to ‘cash in’ on the forward.

Greenwood has not featured for Manchester United since being arrested in January 2022, following his arrest and later charges for attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The charges against the 22-year-old were dropped in February 2023, with an internal investigation then taking place at Old Trafford.

The club then released a statement confirming it has been ‘mutually agreed’ that Greenwood will not recommence his career with the Red Devils, before loaning the forward to Spanish side Getafe.

Greenwood has impressed in La Liga with six goals and five assists in 23 appearances and Manchester United’s new minority owners, Ineos, said last month that a ‘fresh’ decision would be made on his future at the end of the campaign.

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that no decision has been made to date, though permanent bids will be considered for the striker.

The sale of Greenwood – who has been linked with Barcelona – could help ease the club’s Profit and Sustainability Rules given his status as 100% profit as an academy product.
