Manchester United to battle Chelsea for Euro 2016 star defender

Jose Mourinho is set to go to a transfer tug of war with former club Chelsea as he looks to  add additional experience to Manchester United’s defence.

Leonardo Bonnucci has been linked with making a move to Chelsea, but Mourinho’s arrival in Manchester will see him battle his former club off the pitch before the season even starts.

Bonnucci is currently playing for Italy at Euro 2016, where he is being managed by Antonio Conte, the incoming Chelsea manager who will arrive at Stamford Bridge after his participation in the tournament is finished.

The 29-year old defender also played under the Italian during his spell as Juventus manager, where Bonnucci still plus his trade.

The Star on Sunday claim that Manchester United could offer £25million for the centre-back, although Juventus are thought to value the defender at a staggering £50million! It is unlikely that anyone will pay that figure for a 29-year old centre back.

Manchester City have also been linked but are thought to favour a move to Everton defender John Stones.
