Inter Milan midfielder Ivan Perisic is to be offered a new deal to fend off interest from Manchester United according to reports in Italy.
Perisic was a target for Manchester United this summer, although the Red Devils were unwilling to meet the Italian sides asking price of £48m, meaning that the Croatian was the one that got away from Jose Mourinho’s clutches.
United were known to be looking to sign four players this summer, but were unable to add the illusion fourth following the early arrivals of Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic.
The high asking price from the Italian giants, coupled with the excellent early season form of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial prompted United to not pursue a deal for the 28-year-old.
However, Inter Milan are ready to try and fend off any future interest in their star by offering a new deal.
Tuttosport claim that they will offer Perisic a new deal worth €4.7m-a-year (£83,000-a-week) with a buyout clause of €70million. They are also willing to offer a further 10% increase should they qualify for the Champions League this season.
