Manchester United striker Lukaku ‘excited’ about the next few weeks

Romelu Lukaku has said he is excitedly looking forward to the upcoming fixtures in the Premier League after returning to the Manchester United starting line-up with a bang.

The Belgian striker scored two goals in the midweek 3-1 win over Crystal Palace, starting a league game for only the fourth time under caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Lukaku was able to take full advantage of his opportunity due to an injury to Marcus Rashford, who came off the bench at Selhurst Park, and the number nine is eagerly anticipating more game time as Manchester United push for a place in the top four of the Premier League.

With only ten games left to ensure Champions League qualification, the Red Devils face struggling Southampton this Saturday, an ideal opportunity for Lukaku and United to continue their fine form.

“Games like this, you have to win,” Lukaku told MUTV.

“I’m excited for the next couple of weeks because, with the players we have, we’re going to get results and, when the injured players come back, hopefully they can give us the push that we need to finish as high as possible in the league.”
