Manchester United star close to agreeing new deal

Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini is close to agreeing a new deal according to reports.

Fellaini moved to Old Trafford back in 2013, becoming the first signing of the post Sir Alex Ferguson era when David Moyes agreed to pay his former side Everton £27.5m for his services.

He initially became a poster boy for everything that went wrong in Moyes’ reign at Old Trafford and has been linked with a move away from the club for a number of years.

The Belgian showed glimpses of his quality under Louis van Gaal, but it has been under Jose Mourinho where Fellaini has finally flourished into a fan favourite at the club.

Despite many predicting that Mourinho would show Fellaini the door, he has instead become one of the Portuguese’s most trusted players, making 47 appearances last season. He has already started the season in fine form, scoring four goals in eight appearances for the Red Devils, and according to TransferMarketWeb, he is close to agreeing a new contract at the club.

The 29-year-old has just nine months remaining on his current deal, and would be free to leave the club next summer.
